Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions about home network & data wiring
What's the difference between Cat5e, Cat6, and Cat6a?
Cat5e supports up to 1 Gbps, Cat6 supports 10 Gbps at short distances, Cat6a supports 10 Gbps at longer distances. We typically recommend Cat6 for future-proofing.
Can you run cables without opening walls?
In many cases yes, using existing pathways like attics, basements, and conduits. Some wall fishing may be needed.
How many network drops do I need?
At minimum, one per room you want wired. We recommend 2 per home office, plus drops for TV locations and access points.
Can you help improve my WiFi coverage?
Yes. We can install wired access points throughout your home for excellent whole-home WiFi coverage.
Do you work with existing network equipment?
Yes. We can integrate with your existing router/switch or recommend and install new equipment.
