Our Process
1. Inspection
We confirm the wiring is aluminum branch circuitry, count the connections and devices, and check the panel and any signs of overheating.
2. Method & Quote
We recommend the right CPSC-recognized method for your home, AlumiConn, COPALUM or a copper rewire, and give you an itemized quote.
3. Permit
We pull the electrical permit before work starts.
4. Remediation
We address every aluminum connection at outlets, switches, fixtures and junction points, photographing each one.
5. Inspection & Report
After the inspection passes, you receive the documentation package: a remediation letter naming the method and connections addressed, the permit and inspection record, an itemized invoice and the photo log.
Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions about aluminum wiring remediation
How do I know if my home has aluminum wiring?
Homes built from about 1965 to 1973 are the most likely. The cable jacket is often stamped AL or ALUMINUM, and the conductors look silver rather than copper. We confirm it during the inspection.
Is aluminum wiring dangerous?
The wire itself isn't the main issue. The connections are: aluminum expands, contracts and oxidizes differently from copper, so connections at devices can loosen and overheat. Remediation fixes those connections.
Which repair methods are recognized?
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission recognizes COPALUM crimp connectors and AlumiConn connectors for repairing aluminum wiring connections, as well as replacing the aluminum with copper.
Can you provide a report for my insurer or lender?
Yes. Every remediation includes a documentation package: a remediation letter on our letterhead naming the method and the connections addressed, the permit and passed inspection record, an itemized invoice and a device-by-device photo log. Most insurance carriers accept this. If your lender or carrier requires a Professional Engineer's sealed certification, we coordinate the engineer's site visit after our inspection passes.
Do I have to rewire the whole house?
Not necessarily. Connection remediation with AlumiConn or COPALUM addresses the risk without replacing every run. A copper rewire is the most complete fix and makes sense when walls are already open or other wiring needs replacing.
