What We Provide
Why It Matters
Our Process
1. Load Analysis & Planning
We inventory all existing and planned equipment—motors, HVAC systems, machinery, computers, and lighting. Using NEC load calculations, we determine total connected load, demand factors, and required service capacity to ensure your system handles current needs plus future growth.
2. Distribution System Design
Our engineers design the complete power distribution system: main service entrance, distribution panels, sub-panels, and branch circuits. We plan for balanced loads across phases, appropriate wire sizing, and code-compliant installation methods.
3. Utility Coordination
For new services or upgrades, we coordinate directly with Ameren. This includes submitting service applications, scheduling transformer installations, and ensuring their requirements align with your project timeline. We attend the utility site meeting on your behalf.
4. Permit & Engineering Submittal
We prepare permit applications with one-line diagrams, load calculations, and panel schedules. For larger installations, we coordinate with your engineer of record or provide PE-stamped drawings as required by the jurisdiction.
5. Equipment Procurement
We order switchgear, panels, transformers, and wire from commercial electrical distributors. For custom equipment—paralleling switchgear, specialty panels, or long-lead items—we coordinate directly with manufacturers on specifications and delivery.
6. Infrastructure Installation
Our crews install conduit runs, cable trays, and wire pulls according to the engineered drawings. For three-phase systems, we use proper color coding and phase rotation. All connections are torqued to manufacturer specifications and documented.
7. Panel Termination & Labeling
We terminate all feeders and branch circuits at panels, install breakers, and create accurate panel schedules. Every circuit is labeled at the panel and at the device for easy identification during maintenance or troubleshooting.
8. Testing & Commissioning
Before energizing, we perform insulation resistance testing on all feeders and verify proper phase rotation. After power-up, we test each circuit, verify voltage at all points, and check for proper grounding. You receive complete documentation including as-builts and test reports.

Can you upgrade our service size?
Yes. We can upgrade commercial services in coordination with Ameren.
Do you work with manufacturing equipment?
Yes. We install power for CNC machines, compressors, welders, and other industrial equipment.
What about temporary power?

How do you minimize downtime?
We plan carefully, work after hours when needed, and coordinate shutdowns to minimize impact.

“Repaired and replaced multiple outlets and gfis in my house and garage and pool area worked on grounds repaired wiring on garbage disposal. Did a thorough inspection on my home. They have done work for me in the past adding outlets inside and outside, replacing circuit box and repairing our pool house. Very satisfied with this company. Hard working people. Thanks”
“Great experience with FIrst Choice Electric. Had a circuit problem with loss of power in one area and also needed replacement of 30+ year old hard-wired smoke detectors (with high ceiling). Responded to my online request quickly. Came out the next day. Sam (electrician) and Brody (apprentice) were both outstanding. Professional, personable, and efficient. Very reasonable price too.”
