Why It Matters
Signs You Need This Service
Not sure if you need ceiling fan installation? Here are the warning signs to watch for.
Fan wobbles or shakes
Wobbling indicates unbalanced blades, loose mounting, or an inadequate electrical box. This stresses the motor and mounting, potentially causing the fan to fall.
Grinding or humming noise
Unusual sounds indicate motor bearing failure, loose parts, or electrical issues. A healthy fan should be nearly silent.
Fan mounted to plastic box
Plastic electrical boxes cannot safely support ceiling fan weight and vibration. The fan could fall—replace with a fan-rated box immediately.
Lights flicker when fan runs
Flickering indicates loose connections, inadequate wiring, or a motor drawing too much current. This can be a fire hazard.
Fan runs slowly on high speed
A fan that won't reach full speed has a failing capacitor or motor. Replacement is usually more cost-effective than repair.
Burning smell from fan
A burning smell means the motor is overheating or wiring is failing. Turn off immediately and have it inspected.
Fan installed without support box
Some DIY installations attach fans directly to drywall or use inadequate brackets. This is dangerous—the fan can fall without warning.

Our Process
1. Ceiling Assessment
We inspect your ceiling structure to verify it can support a fan, check the existing electrical box type, examine current wiring, and measure ceiling height to recommend the proper downrod length and fan size for your room.
2. Power Off & Preparation
We turn off power at the breaker, verify it's dead with a voltage tester, and remove any existing light fixture. We protect your floors and furniture from debris.
3. Fan-Rated Box Installation
If needed, we install a fan-rated electrical box capable of supporting 50+ lbs of weight and vibration. This may require attic access or a remodel-style brace that installs from below.
4. Wiring & Mounting Bracket
We connect the wiring for the fan motor and light kit (if applicable), ensuring proper wire connections with wire nuts and electrical tape. The mounting bracket is secured to the fan-rated box.
5. Fan Assembly & Hanging
We assemble the fan motor, attach blades, install the light kit, and hang the fan on the mounting bracket. All connections are verified secure before proceeding.
6. Balancing & Testing
We use a blade balancing kit to eliminate wobble, test all fan speeds, verify light operation, and ensure the fan runs quietly. We install the remote receiver or configure wall controls as needed.
Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions about ceiling fan installation
Can you install a fan where there's no existing fixture?
Yes. We can run new wiring and install a fan-rated box in most ceiling locations. We'll need attic access or may use remodel-style boxes.
Why does my fan wobble?
Wobbling is usually caused by unbalanced blades, loose screws, or an improper mounting box. We ensure proper installation and balancing.
Do you install outdoor ceiling fans?
Yes. We install damp-rated fans for covered patios and wet-rated fans for exposed outdoor areas.
What size fan do I need?
Room size determines fan size: up to 75 sq ft = 29-36", 76-144 sq ft = 36-42", 144-225 sq ft = 44", larger = 52"+.
Can I replace a light fixture with a ceiling fan?
Usually yes, but the electrical box must be fan-rated. We'll replace it if needed to safely support the fan.
How do I know if my electrical box is fan-rated?
Fan-rated boxes are typically metal, say 'fan rated' or list weight limits (35+ lbs). Plastic boxes and standard light boxes are NOT safe for fans.
Can you add a remote control to my existing fan?
Yes. We can add remote control receivers to most existing fans, even if they weren't originally remote-capable.
Do ceiling fans really save money?
Yes. Running a ceiling fan costs about 1 cent per hour. The wind-chill effect lets you raise your thermostat 4°F without losing comfort, saving 4-8% on cooling.
